  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Do not drain the grease.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens into a gravy. Season with black pepper and salt. Remove from heat.
  4. Open the can of biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters. Place half of the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish.
  5. Pour half of the sausage gravy over the biscuit pieces. Layer the remaining biscuit pieces on top, followed by the rest of the gravy.
  6. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream. Pour this mixture evenly over the casserole.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the casserole is set.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with green onions if desired.
