Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
- 6 large eggs
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Do not drain the grease.
- Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens into a gravy. Season with black pepper and salt. Remove from heat.
- Open the can of biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters. Place half of the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom of the greased baking dish.
- Pour half of the sausage gravy over the biscuit pieces. Layer the remaining biscuit pieces on top, followed by the rest of the gravy.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream. Pour this mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the casserole is set.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with green onions if desired.
