- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tbsp corn syrup
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into thick slices
- 5 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar and fresh berries for serving
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup, stirring until smooth.
- Pour the caramel mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange the French bread slices in a single layer over the caramel sauce.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread, ensuring all slices are coated.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow the bread to soak.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, or until golden and set.
