  • Total Time: 55 min
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

This Crème Brûlée French Toast combines the silky custard texture of crème brûlée with the golden crispness of caramelized French toast. Perfect for a luxurious brunch, this dish delivers buttery richness, a crackly sugar crust, and a melt-in-your-mouth center.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into thick slices
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar and fresh berries for serving

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup, stirring until smooth.
  2. Pour the caramel mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Arrange the French bread slices in a single layer over the caramel sauce.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread, ensuring all slices are coated.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow the bread to soak.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, or until golden and set.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries.
