Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, butter, eggs, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the yeast mixture and 2 cups of flour. Mix well to form a sticky dough.
  4. Add remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes until elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Punch dough down and roll out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into squares or rectangles and place on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise again for 30-40 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
